Regester Chapel Mission Events for 2020
Our mission chair is Jim Atkinson
We will collect food for S.E.R.V.E the entire year. There mission is to provide for the emergency needs of local Stafford families in need of food, utility, housing and prescription assistance.
January/June Communion Offering will support Micah Ecumenical Ministries (MEM). MEM, a Christ-inspired community, supports people experiencing homelessness and identifies pathways to achieving housing.
February/May Communion Offering will support Empower House. Every day, Empower House supports survivors of domestic violence - provides free help to adults and their children. As an accredited domestic violence center, we do not charge for services. Thanks to the donations from our community, we are able to continue providing free services to anyone who needs them.
April/September Communion Offering will support The Thurman Brisben Center. The mission of the Thurman Brisben Center is to provide at-risk and homeless men, women and children of Caroline County, King George County, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, and the city of Fredericksburg with appropriate and essential shelter and services to affect positive life changes.
May We participate in one of our local missions, The Heartwood Program providing Stafford School Children Lunches. We participate in the Camp Rainbow Connection with our annual yard sale. Camp Rainbow Connection is a week-long respite camp held twice in the summer for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
June - We participate in the National/International Mission by collecting Health Kits.
July/November/December Communion Offering will support S.E.R.V.E. We will be participating in the Camp Rainbow Connection as several of our members will go and be team leaders. Camp Rainbow Connection is a week-long respite camp held twice in the summer for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
August/October Communion Offering will support United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, SEJ is the short-term mission sending agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. UMVIM exists to promote, encourage, and enable Christians to exemplify “Christian Love in Action” through short-term mission service at home and abroad.
October - We will participate in Operation Christmas Child - Samaritan's Purse Shoeboxes. We will also participate in our traditional mission supporting Trunk or Treat here at Regester Chapel.
November - We will participate in our tradition of providing Thanksgiving Day baskets to area families in our community. We will also collect gifts for our Joy Tree and our Dove gifts for those in need in our community.
December - Our Christmas Eve Offering will support the Stafford School Children Meals Program and Empower House.
